Room by Room
Where Wallpaper Works Hardest
Living rooms and accent walls. The single most requested job in Orlando: one statement wall behind the sofa or media console. A bold botanical or a quiet grasscloth changes the whole room for a fraction of a renovation budget — and it’s usually done in half a day.
Primary bedrooms. A feature wall behind the headboard adds depth without overwhelming the space. Soft trellis patterns, textured weaves, and muted florals are the current favorites in Baldwin Park and Winter Park homes.
Nurseries and kids’ rooms. Mural panels — clouds, balloons, jungle scenes — aligned panel by panel so the artwork reads as one continuous image. We use unpasted non-woven stock that removes cleanly when tastes change.
Powder rooms and dining rooms. Small rooms reward drama. Metallic and dark-ground papers turn a windowless powder room into the most photographed space in the house. In humid bathrooms we take moisture readings and use adhesives rated for the environment.
Home offices. Since half of Orlando now works from home, a geometric feature wall behind the desk has become the standard video-call backdrop upgrade in Lake Nona and beyond.
Materials
Every Paper Has Its Own Rules
Non-woven papers are the workhorse — dimensionally stable, breathable, and forgiving in Florida’s climate. Traditional pasted papers need precise booking time so they expand fully before hanging. Grasscloth and silk demand clean gloved hands, razor-sharp blades, and zero paste on the face, because they cannot be wiped. Vinyls shrug off humidity but need seam placement planned around sight lines.
We’ve hung all of them for nine years. Tell us what you’ve fallen in love with — or send us a photo — and we’ll tell you honestly how it will behave on your wall, how many rolls to order, and what the prep will involve.
Removal & Prep
Wallpaper Removal Done Right
Half the wallpaper in older Orlando homes — especially the plaster-walled bungalows of College Park and Colonialtown — was hung decades ago with adhesives that fight back. We remove it with steam and enzyme strippers, wash off every trace of paste, repair gouges and cracked plaster, and prime. The result is a wall ready for new paper or a perfect coat of paint.
Never paint or paper over old wallpaper. It telegraphs every seam and eventually delaminates, taking the new finish with it. Proper removal costs less than fixing that mistake later.
